Those of you who know me know that I’m not a fan of personal posts on our business pages and media, so for me to post an appeal of this nature means it’s a pretty big deal!
On Saturday 22nd October, we are donating a cake to Lucy’s Charity Ball to raise money for Claire House Hospice. Lucy’s mum (Liz) and I went to school together, and it was heartbreaking when her daughter passed away in February. Over to Liz to explain Lucy’s condition and what happened:
“Lucy was diagnosed at 13 weeks pregnant, with a chromosome condition called Trisomy 18, also known as Edwards syndrome. According to doctors, the condition is ‘incompatible with life’. Much to their surprise, Lucy survived her complicated pregnancy, and then her birth. She lived 27 amazing days before she peaceful grew her angel wings on Valentine’s Day this year, at home, surrounded by her loving family.
A lot of Lucys life was spent at Claire House Children’s Hospice, who were amazing. Without them, we never would have been able to spend such quality time with her, or make so many amazing memories. They gave us the chance to have nurse assisted days out as a family, hydro pool sessions with Lucy and her brothers and special memory keepsakes made. The hospice allowed my whole family to stay with me and Lucy at the hospice at no charge. Free accommodation and meals and snacks. They cared for all of us, not just Lucy. My aim now is to raise as much awareness of Edwards syndrome, while raising as much cash for the hospice as possible”.
I know that I have a stupendous number of wonderfully generous people in the wedding industry following this page, and if any of you want to donate anything to the event, be it venue dressing, sweet carts, anything, then please get in touch. Anything, however small, would be much appreciated.
If you are not able to donate any services towards the event but wish to attend, tickets are £40 and can be purchased following the instructions on the picture above. I’ll be there with Dave, and if you’re kind enough to come along I’ll give you a high five and most likely engage in some sort of dance off with you. Plus there will be cake, and you will be having a fabulous time whilst raising money for a fantastic cause.
