Hello All!
I’ve been a bit quiet on the blogging front lately, thanks to the 207 weddings we have done so far this year, plus my sneaky side project, The Boho Baker. I’ve been quietly working away on a different project that focuses on the organic, natural baking that I enjoy at home when I’m not working on wedding/celebration cakes and advanced sugarcraft. Stepping away from the bright colours and highly stylised work I do at Vanilla Nova, The Boho Baker focuses on cooking and baking with local, seasonal produce, with an emphasis on edible flowers and foraged ingredients. My work as the Boho Baker has gotten me into the Guild of Food Writers, and I’m working on a beautiful book that will be out next year, once all four seasons since I started it have passed.
For the last few months, I have been writing recipes for the fabulous supermarket chain, Booths, with whom I share so many values: keeping food miles to a minimum, supporting local businesses and communities, and celebrating local produce. I’m really excited to announce that as of this Friday (3rd November), I’m going to be travelling around some of their stores demonstrating how to get the very best out of your gingerbread and how to make beautiful gingerbread houses! Covering everything from how to install sugar glass windows, to how to safely add lights to illuminate from within, these demonstrations are going to get you seriously geared up for the festive season. I’ll be handing out gingerbread house templates, plus copies of the recipe and construction guide to take home, all of which will not cost you a penny. I will be at Hesketh Bank on Friday 3rd November, Burscough on Sunday 12th November, Lytham on Sunday 19th November, and Knutsford on Sunday 26th November. I know that most of our Vanilla Nova customer base live within the vicinity of the Burscough store, so it would be lovely to see some familiar faces on the day.
Children are of course welcome, and each demonstration lasts under an hour so you can pop in after doing your weekly shop. I’ll be set up in the cafĂ© area so you can grab a coffee, sit back, and enjoy what will no doubt be a lovely demonstration.
If you’re on Instagram then please add @thebohobaker and @boothscountry for further updates and yummy recipes every week.
Hope to see you all there!
